Achievement Center  – Autism  – Summer Therapeutic Activity Program (STAP)

Tentatively the STAP program will run Monday – Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. beginning mid-June

Dates and locations for the 2015 STAPs are currently being finalized.

Purpose:
The focus of the Autism STAP is to provide a structured and therapeutic environment to hone social skills and to assist families in learning new strategies that will ultimately help to create a better quality of life—with particular regard to relationships at home, in school, and in the community.

Program Goals:
Autism STAP will address the three core deficits of ASD:

  1. To improve communication skills – both receptive and expressive language.
  2. To improve social skills
  3. To reduce repetitive or otherwise challenging behavior

Program time:
9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
(Before and after care will be provided for children from 7:30 a.m.- 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. – 5:30 p.m. for a nominal fee.)

Population Served:
Must have Axis I Diagnosis made by Licensed Psychologist ofASD
Children 5-17: Erie County
Children 5-12: Warren County
