New Data on Autism Spectrum Disorder

Center for Disease Control and Prevention estimates 1 in 68 children (1 in 75 in Pennsylvania) has been identified with an autism spectrum disorder (ASD). (2,108 individuals in Erie, Crawford, Venango, and Mercer Counties); 1 in 42 boys in the nation have an autism diagnosis while only 1 in 189 girls are on the autism spectrum.  Pennsylvania Autism Census Report estimated 5,281 adults with autism (21 +) in 2013.  They are projecting the number adults with autism to reach almost 36,000 in 2020.

Autism Society NWPA’s primary concern is that individuals with autism have access to the resources and services they need.
